Job Title
Quantum Ion Trap Lead Integrator
Role Summary
Senior technical and people leadership role responsible for end-to-end semiconductor integration for ion-trap quantum computing hardware. Leads a multidisciplinary integration organization to align device, process, BEOL, photonics, advanced packaging, interconnect, and cryogenic CMOS into manufacturable, qualified platforms.
Experience Level
Senior β expects approximately 12 years of relevant experience; senior manager / deputy director responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Ownership of system-level integration strategy and delivery for ion-trap quantum hardware; people leadership and cross-functional coordination.
- Define and lead semiconductor system integration strategy across ion trap devices, BEOL, photonics, packaging, interconnect, and cryogenic CMOS.
- Manage and develop a team of senior integration engineers and technical leads.
- Define integration architectures, interfaces, and design rules to enable manufacturability, performance, and qualification.
- Drive cross-functional execution with design enablement, device engineering, process development, packaging, reliability, and IP teams.
- Set technical requirements, milestones, and success criteria; own tradeoffs among performance, yield, reliability, scalability, and cost.
- Support hardware qualification and ensure compliance with internal standards and external partner/customer requirements.
- Serve as technical interface with internal leadership, external partners, research institutions, and funded programs; communicate to executive stakeholders.
- Promote technical rigor, collaboration, and mentorship within the integration organization.
Requirements
Must-have experience and expectations; preferred items listed separately.
- Minimum ~12 years of experience in semiconductor integration, device engineering, or related fields.
- Proven experience leading and developing senior technologists and integration teams.
- Demonstrated ability to align device, process, packaging, photonics, and cryo-CMOS technologies into manufacturable hardware.
- Experience managing cross-functional projects and delivering qualified hardware to program objectives.
- Willingness to travel approximately 15%.
- Preferred: experience with BEOL process integration and/or integrated photonics, transitioning research to manufacturable platforms, and supporting externally funded or joint development programs.
- Preferred: track record of setting technical direction and mentoring senior engineers and technical leaders.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or Materials Science. PhD is preferred for candidates transitioning advanced research concepts into manufacturable hardware.
