Program Manager (Technical)
Role Summary
The Program Manager will lead scoping, planning and execution of complex services and deployment programs that integrate Ansys products into customer engineering workflows. The role partners with Sales, Account Management and Services Delivery and acts as the central point of contact for cross-functional teams and customers.
This position requires technical understanding of semiconductor design flows, EDA/CAE tool integration, and the ability to translate customer requirements into deliverable program plans.
Experience Level
Senior — this role expects extensive professional experience in engineering software/program management (see Education Requirements for specific year expectations).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on planning, coordinating and delivering multi‑workstream programs for enterprise customers.
- Lead complex services engagements end-to-end: scope, planning, execution, and delivery against commitments.
- Define project scope, tasks, resource requirements, timelines and deliverables for program-level initiatives.
- Manage cross-functional communication and serve as the single point of contact for internal teams and customers.
- Track resource allocations, identify and mitigate project risks, and escalate issues as needed.
- Collaborate with Sales and Account Management to position follow-on phases and support pre-sales and business development activities.
- Provide senior technical guidance on solution planning and mentor junior program/project managers.
- Contribute to PMO standards, processes and corporate improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate colleagues across geographically distributed teams and manage multiple concurrent complex projects.
Requirements

- Extensive experience in program or complex project management with multiple interconnected workstreams in an engineering/software environment.
- Proven stakeholder management and senior customer engagement skills; able to interact with senior business managers and executives.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills; able to lead customer presentations and status reporting.
- Strong organizational, time-management and leadership skills; experience mentoring others.
- Familiarity with Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, SharePoint and Outlook.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 35%.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Experience with enterprise software deployments and familiarity with Ansys or other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA or PLM tools.
- Experience with both Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies.
- Project/Program Management certification and prior leadership experience (2–5 years).
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in engineering, business, or a related field (BS, MS or PhD). Minimum professional experience expectations tied to degree: BS + 12 years, MS + 10 years, or PhD + 7 years. Preferred: BS + 16 years, MS + 14 years, or PhD + 11 years. Project/program management certification is preferred. Equivalent practical experience may be considered where appropriate.
