Job Title
Product Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Join Altera's post-silicon validation team in Bayan Lepas to validate timing and static/dynamic power models for Multi-Chip Package (MCP) FPGAs. The role develops validation patterns, executes power and timing characterization on ATE platforms, and supports silicon yield and speed binning decisions.
Experience Level
Mid-level β 3 to 6 years of industry experience in post-silicon validation, test engineering, or hardware characterization.
Responsibilities
Execute post-silicon validation and correlate measurements with pre-silicon models. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute validation plans for static and dynamic power, power domains, and timing across MCP FPGA architectures.
- Create, optimize, and debug FPGA validation pattern sets for MCPs and core logic circuits.
- Run characterization tests on ATE tester platforms and bench setups to support volume characterization and bring-up.
- Analyze silicon performance data to correlate simulation and model accuracy with measured results.
- Perform statistical data analysis to support product speed and power binning and improve yield.
- Collaborate with chip designers, software model engineers, and test teams to diagnose silicon anomalies and resolve issues.
Requirements
Essential skills and experience for immediate contribution:
- Hands-on experience with static and dynamic power measurement and timing characterization for complex ICs or FPGAs.
- Practical experience using ATE tester platforms and bench equipment for silicon characterization.
- Proficiency in scripting for test automation and data analysis (Python, Perl, Tcl, or similar).
- Solid understanding of digital logic, programmable logic architectures, and advanced packaging concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; experience applying statistical methods to silicon data.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with global engineering teams.
Nice to have: direct experience with multi-chip packages (MCP), speed/power binning strategies, or volume characterization programs.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related technical field. The posting specifies 3β6 years of industry experience; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
