Job Title

Product System Test Engineer (ARM Hyperscalar)

Role Summary

Lead validation and automation for ARM-based server platforms, focusing on system-level hardware, firmware, and OS integration to ensure performance, reliability, thermal behavior, and uptime for hyperscale deployments. Work across hardware, firmware, software and operations teams to define and execute test strategies from prototype to production scale.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early Career β€” typically requires 2+ years of relevant system testing or validation experience in enterprise/server hardware.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and operate system-level tests and automation to validate server SoC and platform behavior under demanding workloads and long-duration stress conditions.

  • Define test strategy and comprehensive test plans for CPU, memory, PCIe, power/thermal, networking, and system uptime.
  • Develop and maintain scalable automated test suites and frameworks across UEFI, Linux/Unix, BMC, and virtualized environments.
  • Execute stress, soak, power-cycle, and long-duration endurance tests; run synthetic workloads and benchmarks to validate stability and performance.
  • Perform advanced debugging and root-cause analysis across hardware, firmware, kernel, and user-space boundaries; work with design teams to validate fixes and workarounds.
  • Analyze test results, track quality metrics (error rates, thermal readings, MTBF, uptime), and produce clear reports and trend analyses.
  • Collaborate globally with hardware designers, firmware/software engineers, manufacturing, and data center operations to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Continuously improve test coverage, execution speed, and monitoring, and develop new tools to scale validation for hyperscaler requirements.

Requirements

Key skills and experience required and preferred for success in this role.

  • Must-have: 2+ years of system testing or validation experience in enterprise/server hardware; experience with system bring-up and reliability testing.
  • Must-have: Strong Linux experience (system administration, shell scripting, kernel log analysis) and familiarity with OS-level debugging.
  • Must-have: Programming and scripting skills (C/C++, Python, Bash) and experience with version control (Git) and CI concepts.
  • Must-have: Knowledge of computer architecture (CPU microarchitecture, memory hierarchy, I/O buses) and system design principles.
  • Must-have: Experience with system-level stress and regression testing, benchmarks, and test plan development.
  • Must-have: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; ability to produce clear documentation and communicate risks to cross-functional teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with PCIe, DDR memory, Ethernet, NVMe, CXL, NUMA, and ARM system concepts.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with bootloaders/BIOS/UEFI, virtualization, BMC automation, and virtualized OS test automation.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with lab instruments (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers) and experience in data center environments.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
