Product Engineer, Semiconductor Process and Device Simulations (TCAD)
SiemensJob Title
Product Engineer, Semiconductor Process and Device Simulations (TCAD)
Role Summary
Join the Calibre R&D team at Siemens EDA to develop and productize semiconductor process and device simulation capabilities (TCAD) used across advanced-node logic, memory, and 3DIC flows. The role focuses on model development, high-fidelity simulation workflows, validation against metrology and device data, and customer collaboration.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical background: PhD or MS with substantial industry/research experience (education details below).
Responsibilities
Work with internal R&D and external customers to deliver simulation-based products and support high-volume manufacturing use cases.
- Develop and validate TCAD process and device models and simulation flows.
- Translate fabrication and metrology data into robust model parameters and calibration procedures.
- Integrate simulation modules for process steps (etch, deposition, CMP, ion implantation, anneal, epitaxy, etc.).
- Collaborate with product teams to productize algorithms and ensure scalability and throughput.
- Estimate task complexity and timelines; manage delivery against schedules.
- Communicate results to customers and cross-functional teams; produce technical documentation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes; education requirements are listed separately below.
- Practical expertise in semiconductor fabrication unit processes and integration flows (plasma dry etch, wet etch/clean, CVD/PVD/ALD, CMP, ion implantation, annealing, epitaxy).
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor device physics and carrier transport relevant to modeling and reliability analysis.
- Experience with semiconductor metrology methods (optical scatterometry/ellipsometry, SEM/e-beam) and using metrology to calibrate simulations.
- Hands-on experience developing or applying TCAD/process-device simulation tools and workflows.
- Problem-solving skills, ability to scope tasks, and deliver on deadlines; clear verbal and written communication; collaborative team orientation.
- Nice-to-have: experience with DTCO, advanced logic nodes (sub-3nm), 3D NAND/DRAM/3DIC packaging workflows.
Education Requirements
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related engineering (Materials, Mechanical, etc.), OR MS plus 5+ years of relevant research or industry experience. Equivalent practical experience considered.
