Job Title

Product Engineer, Semiconductor Digital Twin

Role Summary

Join the Calibre™ R&D team to develop and deploy semiconductor process, metrology, and device simulation solutions that support advanced-node manufacturing and device performance studies. The role combines research and application engineering to translate process and device physics into high-fidelity models and production-ready simulation software.

You will work with cross-functional internal teams and external customers to define requirements, implement models for unit-process and integration flows, validate results against metrology and device data, and support high-throughput numerical simulations for advanced logic, memory, and 3D packaging technologies.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The role expects several years of research or industry experience in semiconductor process, metrology, or device simulation (see Education Requirements for formal degree guidance).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Research and develop simulation models for semiconductor fabrication processes (etch, deposition, CMP, implantation, anneal, epitaxy, etc.).
  • Implement and validate metrology and device-physics models (optical scatterometry, ellipsometry, SEM/eBeam, carrier transport, reliability).
  • Integrate unit-process modules into full process flows for advanced logic, DRAM, 3D NAND, CIS, LED, and 3DIC packaging.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal product teams to capture requirements and translate them into software features and validation plans.
  • Estimate task complexity and schedules; manage deliverables to meet project timelines.
  • Document methods, results, and provide technical presentations and customer-facing support as needed.
  • Contribute to performance and throughput improvements for production-scale simulation runs.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills:

  • Must-have: Practical experience with semiconductor unit-process modules and integration flows (plasma dry etch, wet etch/clean, CVD/PVD/ALD, CMP, ion implantation, anneal, epitaxy).
  • Must-have: Hands-on familiarity with semiconductor metrology (optical scatterometry/ellipsometry, SEM/eBeam) or device-physics measurement methods.
  • Must-have: Strong problem-solving skills, ability to scope tasks, and deliver technical results on schedule.
  • Must-have: Good written and verbal communication; ability to work collaboratively in a product and customer-facing environment.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Design-Technology Co-Optimization (DTCO) and simulation for advanced nodes (logic 2/1.4/1.0/0.7nm, 3D NAND, advanced DRAM, 3DIC).
  • Nice-to-have: Prior work on EDA or process/device simulation tools and high-throughput numerical methods.

Education Requirements

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred; or a Master's degree plus 5+ years of relevant research or industry experience. Equivalent practical experience in semiconductor process, metrology, or device-physics work is acceptable.
