Job Title

Product Engineer II - EMX

Role Summary

Responsible for enabling foundry PDK teams and foundry design service teams to deliver signoff-ready on-chip electromagnetic (EM) modeling solutions using Cadence EMX. Focus areas include EM extraction technology enablement, foundry-qualified modeling assumptions, and scalable reference-flow development for advanced nodes and complex interconnects.

Experience Level

Mid-level. (Product Engineer II). Years of experience not specified in the source.

Responsibilities

Provide technical enablement, validation, and reference flows for EM extraction and modeling to support foundry PDK releases and design service integration.

  • Support foundry PDK teams in development, validation, and qualification of EMX technology files and EM modeling setups.
  • Collaborate with foundries to define EM modeling assumptions for BEOL interconnects, vias, MIM capacitors, inductors, and advanced process features.
  • Support frequency-dependent R/L/C extraction, mutual coupling, and accuracy correlation requirements.
  • Enable EMX usage in foundry-level qualification flows for SI, PI, IR-drop, and EM signoff.
  • Ensure consistency between EMX models and downstream signoff tools (e.g., Quantus, Voltus, Tempus) through validation and correlation.
  • Develop and maintain EMX-based electromagnetic extraction reference flows for design service teams and integrate EMX results into digital, analog, RF, and mixed-signal flows.
  • Provide guidance on extraction scope selection, solver configuration, runtime trade-offs, and resolution of convergence or performance issues for production designs.
  • Support multi-die, 3DIC, and advanced packaging EM modeling requirements.

Requirements

Key skills and experience expected for successful performance in this role.

  • Must-have: Practical experience with electromagnetic extraction and modeling workflows and tools, including EM extraction setup and validation for advanced interconnect structures.
  • Must-have: Experience collaborating with foundry PDK teams and integrating EM results into signoff and qualification flows.
  • Must-have: Ability to develop and maintain scalable reference flows and to validate models against silicon data or reference designs.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Cadence EMX and downstream signoff tools such as Quantus, Voltus, and Tempus.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with multi-die, 3DIC, advanced packaging EM modeling, and production SoC flows.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
