Job Title
Product Engineer
Role Summary
Join Microsoft SCHIE (Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering) within the Compute Silicon & Manufacturing Engineering organization to support design, manufacturing, and ramp of advanced cloud processors. The role focuses on driving yield, test execution, manufacturability, and cost efficiency from NPI to high-volume manufacturing.
Experience Level
Mid-level β 4+ years of relevant product, test, or manufacturing engineering experience in advanced silicon.
Responsibilities
The role owns test and manufacturing execution for silicon ramps and high-volume production. Key responsibilities include:
- Interface with foundries, OSATs, and system integrators to drive execution and resolve production issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve ramp problems under schedule pressure (excursions, bottlenecks, supply constraints).
- Execute and debug ATE test programs at wafer and package level; implement test program modifications.
- Translate silicon specifications (timing, voltage, power, redundancy, security) into robust test coverage and guard-banding.
- Own yield ramp from NPI to HVM: yield monitoring, DOE, excursion management, and continuous improvement.
- Lead structured failure analysis and RMA feedback loops to improve silicon quality and manufacturability.
- Drive test-time optimization and cost reduction initiatives.
- Define production system frameworks for capacity, cycle time, output predictability, and recovery models.
- Leverage telemetry and data analytics for real-time decision-making and process optimization.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience plus screening requirements.
- 4+ years in product, test, or manufacturing engineering for advanced silicon (CPU, GPU, AI SoC).
- Experience with ATE test program development, characterization, and debug.
- Proven skills in yield analysis, DOE, and failure analysis.
- Experience with high-volume manufacturing and OSAT operations; demonstrated NPI β HVM ramp delivery.
- Experience with or strong interest in Technical Program Management.
- Ability to use data/telemetry (e.g., test platforms) to support execution and decisions.
- Screening: must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check and meet export-control eligibility; successful candidates must provide citizenship or residency documentation as required for access to export-controlled information.
Preferred:
- Experience scaling hyperscale/datacenter silicon programs.
- Deep understanding of advanced packaging (2.5D/3D, chiplets) and system-level interactions.
- Familiarity with data/AI-driven manufacturing systems (predictive yield, telemetry analytics).
- Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
