Job Title

Product Engineer

Role Summary

The Product Engineer serves as the primary technical interface between Cadence and top-tier customers, driving resolution of silicon and integration issues and coordinating technical reviews across internal teams.

This role focuses on supporting silicon bring-up, protocol and physical-layer validation for high-speed interfaces, managing technical communications with customer engineering teams, and ensuring on-time delivery of program milestones.

Experience Level

Entry-level. The posting specifies roughly 2+ years of relevant experience or a Master's degree as guidance.

Responsibilities

Provide technical ownership and coordination for customer programs and silicon bring-up.

  • Act as the primary technical liaison for customer engineering teams and lead regular program meetings.
  • Manage technical communications, status updates, and action tracking for program milestones.
  • Coordinate and lead technical reviews (e.g., physical integration, pre-tape-out checklists, bring-up test plans).
  • Diagnose silicon-related issues, interpret test results, and drive cross-functional resolution with design, validation, firmware, and applications teams.
  • Perform hands-on post-silicon PHY bring-up, system interoperability, and compliance testing.
  • Operate lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, BERTs, protocol exercisers, and analyzers for debug and validation.
  • Own and triage customer cases in case-management systems; escalate complex issues appropriately.
  • Maintain documentation and reporting: kickoff materials, status dashboards, silicon reports, and case metrics.
  • Apply AI-assisted tools and analytics to improve productivity, extract insights, and inform troubleshooting.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, tools, and behaviors for the role.

  • 2+ years of relevant product-engineering or post-silicon experience (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience validating physical and protocol layers for at least one high-speed SERDES interface (e.g., PCIe, Ethernet, USB, CXL, UCIe).
  • Hands-on experience with post-silicon PHY bring-up, system interoperability, and compliance testing.
  • Proficiency using oscilloscopes, BERTs, protocol analyzers/exercisers, and related lab equipment.
  • Familiarity with case-management systems such as Salesforce (SFDC) and Jira.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer-facing skills; proactive in gathering feedback and driving improvements.
  • Ability to evaluate and prioritize cases, determine severity, and meet service-level expectations.
  • Willingness and ability to travel onsite to support customers for silicon bring-up and debug (travel ~10%).

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in a related field. Alternate degree listings include BE/BTech/ME/MS/MTech in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Science. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable where noted.
