Job Title
Product Development Engineer
Role Summary
As an MTS Product Development Engineer (Product Definition), you will translate market and systems requirements into engineering specifications, drive post-silicon power/performance attainment, and coordinate across design, test, and platform teams to define and optimize next-generation semiconductor products.
This role works at the intersection of design, product management, and systems to ensure products meet customer and production requirements.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Years of experience not specified; role expects technical leadership and cross-functional mentoring.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include defining product requirements, analyzing silicon data, and coordinating trade-offs across teams.
- Own post-silicon power and performance attainment; analyze characterization data to optimize power, performance, yield, and quality.
- Create milestone plans and timelines for power attainment through product development phases.
- Define test points and production guardbands based on operating limits and specifications.
- Collaborate with system architects, design, ATE, systems-level, and platform teams to align product trade-offs with use cases.
- Prioritize features considering performance, cost, power, and area for different customer verticals.
- Identify, document, and mitigate development risks to minimize impact on schedules and outcomes.
- Experiment with and adopt AI tools to improve engineering efficiency and workflows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.
- Proven experience analyzing silicon power/characterization data to set operating limits, specifications, and production guardbands.
- Experience with characterization analysis, statistical modeling, guardband optimization, and data-driven decision making.
- Familiarity with semiconductor test methodologies and DFT features (SCAN, MBIST, JTAG, CREST).
- Strong collaboration skills across Design, Test, Quality, Reliability, Platform, and other teams to drive issue resolution.
- Experience presenting technical findings and risk assessments to senior management and stakeholders.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Excel, JMP, Python, SQL, Power BI, or equivalent platforms.
- Technical leadership experience; mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional technical initiatives.
- Automation and scripting for data analysis and reporting are preferred.
