Product Development Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
Product Development Engineer
Role Summary
Work on post‑silicon validation, testability, and manufacturability of integrated circuits from feasibility through high‑volume manufacturing. The role partners with design, process, fab, assembly, quality, and manufacturing teams to enable production ramp and optimize test and yield.
Experience Level
Entry-level. Suitable for candidates with 0–1 years of hands-on experience, or candidates with a Master's degree and no prior professional experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on enabling production-ready products through test development, validation, and manufacturing readiness.
- Develop and validate testability circuits, test flows, and methodologies from design evaluation through production ramp.
- Evaluate devices on automated test equipment (ATE); perform characterization to define datasheet specs and support yield analysis.
- Collaborate with designers to implement design for test/debug/manufacturing (DFT/DFD/DFM) features.
- Create and debug test software and hardware to convert validation vectors and drive complex test equipment.
- Analyze component performance versus specifications and process corners to ensure manufacturability and resolve yield issues.
- Drive test time reduction and cost optimization through analysis of fallout data and test coverage.
- Lead manufacturing readiness activities: ES milestones, wafer start planning, qualification strategy, capacity analysis, and site certification.
- Support production ramp, fab/process targeting, and participate in cross‑functional factory task forces to address product issues.
- Optimize product supply via postsilicon binsplit, die‑level cherry pick, and downstream yield/test content improvements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical capabilities; preferred items listed separately.
- Must-have: Proficiency in programming (Python, C++, or PERL) and basic data analysis skills (JMP, Power BI, SQL, Excel).
- Must-have: Understanding of electronic components and circuit analysis and ability to perform basic yield analysis.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) and test program development.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with machine learning pipelines or yield‑improvement practices.
- Nice-to-have: Strong problem‑solving, prioritization, and communication skills; willingness to learn and contribute in a manufacturing engineering environment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 0–1 years of hands‑on experience (including internships, academic projects, or hands‑on training), OR a Master's degree in a relevant field with no prior professional experience. Related technical fields and equivalent practical experience are acceptable per the posting.
