Product Development Engineer

Role Summary

The Product Development Engineer will design, develop, validate, and support semiconductor products from concept through mass production. The role works with design, DFT, test, and cross-functional teams to define test strategies, characterize silicon, and drive yield and reliability improvements.

Experience Level

Mid-level - minimum 5 years of experience in semiconductor product development, test engineering, or characterization.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities cover test development, characterization, debugging, and production support.

• Collaborate with design, DFT, and test teams to define product test requirements and strategies.
• Develop and debug test programs for new silicon, including characterization, validation, and production testing.
• Analyze silicon performance data, identify root causes of failures, and propose design, process, or test improvements.
• Design and develop test hardware such as load boards and probe cards.
• Perform product characterization across voltage, temperature, and frequency conditions.
• Drive yield improvement activities and reduce test costs throughout the product lifecycle.
• Support failure analysis and debug of customer returns.
• Produce technical documentation, including test plans, reports, and procedures.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues and advance product maturity.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.

• Minimum 5 years' experience in semiconductor product development, test engineering, or characterization.
• Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics and digital/analog circuit design.
• Proficiency in programming (C/C++, Python, or Perl).
• Experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) platforms (for example Teradyne, Advantest).
• Familiarity with statistical data analysis tools (for example JMP, Exensio).
• Knowledge of DFT methodologies (JTAG, scan, MBIST).
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, debugging, and communication skills; ability to work independently and in teams.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and support production/test activities.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
