Job Title

Product Application Engineer - FPGA/Emulation & ACAP Compilation Tools

Role Summary

Member of the Emulation & Prototyping team in the Adaptive and Embedded Computing Group (AECG) Application Engineering organization in Hyderabad. Focus on hardware emulation platforms, FPGA prototyping methodologies, design enablement flows, tools specification/validation, documentation, and customer support for UltraScale, Versal ACAP, and SoC device families.

Work with R&D, internal design teams, and tier‑1 customers to improve emulation/prototyping flows, user experience, and productivity for pre‑silicon validation and prototyping of high‑performance designs.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include product ownership, customer issue resolution, and enabling design flows for emulation and prototyping.

  • Own the Emulation & Prototyping product area and act as team champion on high‑impact projects.
  • Drive critical customer escalations to resolution and manage stakeholder communication.
  • Triange and prioritize reported issues across hardware emulation flows, FPGA prototyping platforms, and design compilation.
  • Evaluate and introduce emulation and prototyping methodologies for current and next‑generation AMD SoC and ACAP devices.
  • Define tool/platform requirements, validation plans, and documentation to improve flows and reliability.
  • Develop and deliver training and enablement materials for new features, platforms, and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with R&D, internal design teams, and customers to improve product usability and deployment.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, domain knowledge, and interpersonal capabilities.

  • Deep working knowledge of RTL-based design flows and pre‑silicon validation expectations.
  • Experience with hardware emulation platforms and/or FPGA prototyping systems and associated design compilation flows (e.g., HAPS, Protium).
  • Strong system-level problem solving across emulation, prototyping, and pre‑silicon validation environments.
  • Ability to triage complex technical issues and drive cross‑team resolution.
  • Technical communication skills: simplify complex topics, explain tradeoffs, and report concisely to management.
  • Experience with scripting (Tcl, Perl, Python) is desired.
  • Proven ability to work productively with distributed teams and external customers.

Education Requirements

MS (Master's) in Electrical Engineering or a similar technology field, or equivalent practical work experience.
