Product and Test Engineer
Role Summary
Develop, debug, and sustain production test solutions for isolated gate driver products in the High Voltage Power business unit. Work from early design through final silicon release and collaborate with Analog Design, Systems Engineering, and global manufacturing teams.
Position is based in Manchester, NH. Applicants must reside in a state where Allegro has an office (New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Texas, or Michigan).
Experience Level
Mid-level - approximately 2–6 years of semiconductor product/test engineering experience (around 5 years preferred).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities cover test program development, hardware/interface design, silicon characterization, and cross-functional support for production release.
- Develop, debug, and optimize mixed-signal ATE test programs (e.g., Teradyne ETS series, LTX-Credence, or similar).
- Define wafer probe and final-package test methodologies using probe cards, scribe-line monitors, DIB/load boards, handlers, and high-speed sockets.
- Implement stress and screening tests (e.g., SHOVE, Gate Stress, IDDQ/quiescent current screening) to detect early-life defects.
- Design, verify, and document Device Interface Boards (DIB), load boards, and handler interfaces; ensure hardware meets high-voltage creepage/clearance and safety requirements (working voltages up to 1000V+).
- Execute silicon characterization across voltage and temperature corners (-40°C to 125°C/150°C) and analyze data logs.
- Use statistical process control, DPAT, and SBL methods to establish production test limits and drive yield improvement.
- Debug silicon- and hardware-level test failures during pre-production validation and support failure analysis.
- Support DFT and design reviews to define test modes, trim algorithms, and verify register/EEPROM defaults; produce required PTE/APQP documentation for gates from kickoff to release to production.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for effective performance in this role.
- 2–6 years of product and/or test engineering experience in the semiconductor industry, preferably with high-voltage, analog mixed-signal, or power-management ICs.
- Proficiency writing and debugging ATE test code (C/C++ or specialized tester languages).
- Strong understanding of analog circuit fundamentals (op-amps, LDOs, DACs, ADCs, gate driver stages).
- Familiarity with high-voltage test constraints, high CMTI environments, and galvanic isolation considerations.
- Experience with PCB schematic/layout tools for load board review (Altium, Cadence PCB, or similar).
- Experience using statistical/yield analysis tools (Galaxy or similar) and SPC/DPAT methodologies.
- Practical experience with mixed-signal ATE platforms and test hardware integration.
- Highly organized, proactive communicator, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a global cross-functional team.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline is required. A Master's degree is a plus.
