Processor Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Work within the DSP Architecture and Design team to develop and verify microprocessor blocks for Qualcomm products (mobile, ML, automotive, IoT). The role focuses on implementing and validating logic, verification infrastructure, and performance/power tradeoffs for DSP cores and related subsystems.

Experience Level

Entry-level (2+ years of relevant experience in high-performance microprocessor design).

Responsibilities

Contribute to design verification and development of processor sub-blocks under supervision.

  • Develop tests and verification environments for small, well-defined blocks and features.
  • Execute simulation, debug failures, and document issues to meet functionality, performance, power, and timing targets.
  • Participate in design reviews; identify basic architecture and design issues and escalate to project leads.
  • Use architectural simulators, digital design simulators/emulators, and test generators to validate designs.
  • Communicate status, issues, and design changes in writing and verbally with peers and leads.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical skills and experience.

  • Must-have: 2+ years of experience with high-performance microprocessor design or verification.
  • Must-have: Experience developing or verifying RTL blocks, writing tests, and debugging simulation results.
  • Must-have: Ability to work under close supervision and follow prescribed processes; clear written and verbal communication.
  • Nice-to-have: Programming experience in C, C++, or Python.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with computer architecture, embedded systems, or formal design verification methods.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
