Process Integration & Foundry Engineer
Allegro MicroSystemsJob Title
Process Integration & Foundry Engineer
Role Summary
Resident fab/process engineer serving as Allegro's on-site technical liaison at a wafer foundry partner. Ensure proprietary process flows, yield, and quality plans are executed and improved in high-volume manufacturing.
This role combines process engineering, supplier coordination, and manufacturing problem-solving with direct presence at the partner site.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The role expects approximately 5β10 years of hands-on experience in a semiconductor wafer fab environment (process, yield, or integration roles).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on foundry oversight, yield and quality control, and supporting new product transfer to manufacturing.
- Act as primary on-site contact between Allegro engineering teams and foundry process engineers.
- Monitor daily line health and wafer-sort yields; lead root-cause analysis for yield excursions using SPC data.
- Audit foundry process flows for Allegro-specific technologies (e.g., BCD, high-voltage, TMR) and enforce Process Control Plans and Quality Agreements.
- Support New Product Introduction: coordinate engineering sample fabrication and hot-lot processing.
- Lead excursion task forces: contain affected material, identify causes, and implement corrective actions including 8D reports.
- Identify and implement continuous-improvement opportunities to reduce cycle time, lower cost, and improve yield without compromising reliability.
- Communicate technical status and risks to internal stakeholders and foundry leadership.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and on-site work style; listed tools and techniques are expected for immediate contribution.
- 5β10 years of hands-on experience in a semiconductor wafer fab environment (process engineering, yield engineering, or integration).
- Deep knowledge of BCD or analog/mixed-signal process flows and process control techniques.
- Experience with statistical analysis software such as JMP, Minitab, or Spotfire.
- Familiarity with failure analysis methods (SEM, EDX, FIB) and practical use of FA data in RCA.
- Proven ability to lead root-cause investigations and drive corrective actions (including 8D methodology).
- Strong technical communication skills; able to present complex issues to executives and foundry partners.
- Comfortable working autonomously on-site at a partner facility while aligning with corporate objectives.
- Preferred: demonstrated experience improving yield and implementing process improvements in production fabs.
Education Requirements
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics.
