Process Integration Engineer (BEOL)
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Process Integration Engineer (BEOL)
Role Summary
Responsible for Back-End-Of-Line (BEOL) process integration and yield improvement at Micron's Hiroshima Fab 15. The role leads root-cause analysis, drives corrective actions across multiple process steps, and collaborates with equipment, manufacturing, and quality teams to improve yield and device performance.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typically requires 3+ years of relevant practical experience in semiconductor process development, process integration, or yield improvement.
Responsibilities
Drive technical improvements and coordinate cross-functional activities to resolve yield, defect, and variability issues for BEOL processes.
- Lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for yield loss, defects, and performance variability.
- Integrate and analyze electrical characterization, in-line process data, and defect data to identify failure modes.
- Solve cross-process issues spanning CMP, etch, lithography, and related BEOL steps.
- Use SPC, FMEA, failure analysis, and data-analysis methods to prioritize and validate solutions.
- Coordinate and communicate with Process, Equipment, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to drive resolution.
- Manage multiple issues and projects concurrently and deliver results within deadlines.
- Apply or develop AI/data-driven methods to support analysis and process improvement.
Requirements
Candidates are not expected to meet every item; listed items reflect primary practical requirements for successful performance.
- 3+ years of practical experience in semiconductor process development, process integration (PI), or yield improvement.
- Practical experience performing root-cause analysis and driving improvements for yield loss, defects, and variability.
- Experience solving cross-functional problems spanning multiple process steps (e.g., CMP, etch, lithography).
- Problem-solving skills using SPC, FMEA, failure analysis, and data analysis techniques.
- Experience integrating and analyzing electrical characteristic data, in-line process data, and defect data.
- Ability to lead cross-departmental problem-solving efforts and communicate effectively with technical teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and deliver results on schedule with autonomous initiative.
- Professional-level English communication skills, or a strong willingness to acquire them.
- Familiarity with or strong willingness to learn and apply AI/data-driven tools for process analysis and improvement.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, or a related field.
