Process Integration and Yield Engineering PhD Intern Repeat

Role Summary

Contribute to development and optimization of semiconductor manufacturing processes, integration flows, defect management, and yield improvement in high-volume production within Intel Foundry.

Work with cross-functional engineering teams to troubleshoot process issues, run experiments, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience Level

Entry-level - internship for PhD students. Preferred candidates are 2nd or 3rd-year PhD students; no specific professional years-of-experience required.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to development and optimization of module processes and integration flows for semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Analyze defect data, conduct experiments, and assist in risk assessments to support yield improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot process flow issues and optimize metrology strategies.
  • Apply data analysis techniques to improve process performance and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts focused on production quality and output.
  • Engage in hands-on projects to explore technical career opportunities and support business goals.

Requirements

Must-have and desirable technical skills:

  • Must-have: Proficiency in microscopy techniques.
  • Must-have: Background in circuit design and semiconductor device physics.
  • Must-have: Basic scripting ability in Python or a comparable language.
  • Must-have: Understanding of scan methodologies and automatic test pattern generation.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with image analysis software and visual computing systems.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with semiconductor manufacturing processes, microscopy, or engineering tools.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with data analysis platforms such as JMP, Python, or MATLAB.

Education Requirements

Actively pursuing a PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemistry. Preferred candidates are 2nd or 3rd-year PhD students.
