Process and Equipment Engineer

Role Summary

As a Process and Equipment Engineer in Assembly Test Manufacturing (ATM), you will own and optimize high-volume manufacturing equipment and processes to improve yield, throughput and quality for advanced semiconductor packaging.

You will support equipment qualification, maintenance, defect reduction, capacity expansion and technology transfers across sites and with suppliers.

Experience Level

Entry-level - 0–1 years of practical manufacturing experience; Master's degree holders with no prior professional experience are also eligible.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on equipment/process ownership, quality control and production readiness.

• Own and optimize high-volume manufacturing equipment and processes to meet production efficiency, quality, and cost goals.
• Perform tests and measurements to control critical dimensions and minimize defects on production lines.
• Recommend and implement equipment or process modifications to improve operational efficiency and output performance.
• Support capacity expansion and demonstrate technology capabilities for transfer to global manufacturing sites.
• Execute equipment maintenance, repair activities, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with safety, quality, productivity, and yield metrics.
• Develop systems for excursion prevention and identify discrepant materials or activities.
• Manage equipment installation, conversion, and qualification during factory ramps.
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams; facilitate technology transfers through training, audits, and process standardization.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience required for the role, followed by preferred skills.

• Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and data-driven problem-solving methods.
• Experience with equipment maintenance, process improvement, and defect detection systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Technical skills in mechanical design and electrical circuitry; familiarity with tools such as JMP or SQL Pathfinder.
• Ability to work safely in cleanroom environments with proper PPE.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capability.

Nice-to-have:

• Familiarity with semiconductor assembly equipment and processes.
• Knowledge of design of experiments (DOE), failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), and process optimization techniques.
• Experience with Python, Power BI, SQL Pathfinder, or other scripting/reporting tools.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and work independently.
• Demonstrated collaboration skills across cross-functional teams and suppliers.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or a related engineering field, or a Master's degree in a relevant field. The posting also accepts internships, academic projects or training as qualifying hands-on manufacturing experience for entry-level candidates.
