Principal Wet Process Engineer, Advanced Packaging

Role Summary

As a Principal Wet Process Engineer in Advanced Packaging Technology Development, you will develop and optimize wet chemistry and assembly processes to improve product quality, yield, and reliability for advanced packaging products. Collaborate with R&D, materials suppliers, and manufacturing to qualify new processes and transfer baselines to production.

Lead technical projects, resolve process issues using failure analysis and statistical methods, and support supplier management and audits.

Experience Level

Senior β€” Principal-level role. Candidates are expected to have 8+ years of semiconductor process development experience; final hiring level depends on experience and demonstrated technical depth.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve assembly and wet-process problems using failure analysis, FMEA, 8D, SPC/FDC, and model-based problem solving.
  • Develop, optimize, and characterize wet chemistry processes to meet advanced packaging requirements.
  • Validate and qualify processes, tools, and materials for new product introductions and process baselines.
  • Coordinate and implement process, equipment, and material evaluations and improvements at process steps.
  • Support SPC/FDC/RMS/APC and other statistical process control activities.
  • Enable site-to-site portability and process transfer to manufacturing.
  • Manage and audit material suppliers to meet quality, cost, and risk objectives.
  • Support internal and external audits and lead yield improvement and cost reduction initiatives.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • 8+ years semiconductor industry experience as a process development engineer.
  • Hands-on experience developing wet chemistry processes in a cleanroom environment.
  • Experience with failure analysis and statistical/problem-solving tools (FMEA, 8D, SPC/FDC).
  • Practical skills in designing valid tests and Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Data analysis skills, including Python and statistical software.
  • Experience with process transfer, site-to-site portability, and supplier management.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with advanced packaging, DRAM, NAND, or other memory products.
  • Experience leveraging AI and automation for data analysis and process improvement.
  • Material characterization and modeling experience.

Education Requirements

MS in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field is required. Preferred: PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry.
