Job Title

Principal Verification Engineer

Role Summary

As a Principal Verification Engineer on the ASIC & Networking team you will define and execute verification strategy for assigned IP, subsystems, and SoC for Blue Origin's TeraWave silicon program. The role focuses on verification planning, methodology, testbench architecture, and driving coverage and sign-off across simulation, formal, and processor-driven testing.

You will partner with design, architecture, modeling, and cross-functional teams to build reusable verification environments and infrastructure, and to align verification with program milestones.

Experience Level

Senior-level - minimum 10 years of professional experience in ASIC or SoC functional verification.

Responsibilities

Accountable for verification strategy, implementation, and sign-off for assigned chip and subsystem scope.

  • Lead verification for chip-level and complex subsystems through sign-off, collaborating with global teams.
  • Define verification strategy, test plans, and measurable coverage goals.
  • Architect reusable verification environments, reference models, and infrastructure spanning IP, subsystem, and SoC levels.
  • Identify verification gaps and implement methodology changes across the verification organization.
  • Drive regression health, coverage closure, and sign-off readiness across simulation, formal, and processor-driven tests.
  • Review testbench architecture and debug approaches; mentor and guide verification engineers.
  • Serve as subject-matter expert and resolve escalated verification problems.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform this role; preferred items listed separately.

  • Minimum 10 years professional experience in ASIC or SoC functional verification.
  • Hands-on expertise in SystemVerilog and UVM testbench development and metric-driven verification.
  • Experience as verification technical lead on at least one taped-out silicon program.
  • Experience with verification across IP, subsystem, and SoC levels, including regression and coverage closure.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Nice-to-have:

  • Formal verification experience on production silicon (connectivity, registers, arbitration, CDC, security).
  • Gate-level simulation and timing-aware post-layout verification experience.
  • Verification experience in modem, baseband, PHY, or DSP hardware and protocols (LDPC, FEC, framing, beamforming).
  • Experience developing C-based or portable stimulus for SoC, CPU boot, and firmware-driven scenarios.
  • Experience applying AI/ML or LLM tooling to stimulus generation, regression triage, or coverage analysis.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
