Principal Test Development Engineer
Marvell TechnologyJob Title
Principal Test Development Engineer
Role Summary
Principal test development engineer in the Operations business group responsible for developing automatic test equipment (ATE) test programs and tester hardware to validate Marvell silicon. Work closely with design, product, and DFT/DFM teams to ensure testability, meet product specifications, and improve yield and test flow for characterization, wafer sort and production.
The role may require creating new test strategies or code when existing equipment capabilities are insufficient and may require eligibility to access export-controlled technology.
Experience Level
Senior. The posting indicates senior-level experience: typically 6+ years overall with specific requirements including 6+ years of Advantest 93K development experience and 4+ years in high-speed digital/ATE testing; alternative master's-level path lists 3–5 years of experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop characterization, production, and wafer sort test programs on the Advantest 93K tester platform.
- Design and validate tester hardware for high-speed testing.
- Convert test patterns from the design simulation environment to ATE format.
- Create detailed test plans, test methodologies, and documentation to meet product specifications.
- Participate in testability reviews with DFT/DFM teams to define and improve yield and test methodologies.
- Lead test flow optimization efforts: reduce test time, manage test insertion/removals, and drive release of production test programs.
- Develop custom code or new testing strategies as needed to address equipment or process limits.
- Collaborate with product and design engineers and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience (must):
- Minimum 6+ years of test program development experience on the Advantest 93K ATE platform.
- 4+ years of experience in ATE testing, test methodology, silicon process, DFT/DFM, and high-speed digital testing.
- Proficiency with C/C++, Perl, Python, and working in a Linux environment.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills; ability to multitask and deliver under urgency.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience designing tester hardware, test flow optimization, and yield improvement for production release.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (with 5–10 years of relevant experience) or a Master's degree in those fields (with 3–5 years of experience). Equivalent practical experience is also acceptable where noted.
