Job Title

Principal System Performance Telemetry Architect

Role Summary

Architect and define system-level performance telemetry and profiling for complex Arm-based SoCs and systems, including data capture, correlation, and exposure across hardware and software layers. Work with SoC, power, and silicon architects, performance analysis engineers, and software/tooling teams to enable performance analysis, optimization, and silicon debug.

Experience Level

Senior-level (Principal). Years of experience not specified in the posting.

Responsibilities

Lead architecture and specification of performance telemetry across compute, accelerators, memory, interconnects, and multi-die systems; provide technical leadership through silicon bring-up and platform deployment.

  • Define system-level performance telemetry architecture: counters, events, metrics, traces, and data collection across CPUs, accelerators, memory, interconnects, I/O, and multi-die SoCs.
  • Drive architecture specifications and performance analysis methodologies for workload characterization, bottleneck identification, and system optimization.
  • Architect mechanisms to collect, correlate, and expose telemetry across SoC components and hardware–software layers for analysis and debugging.
  • Collaborate with SoC architects, modeling and analysis engineers, and profiling teams to convert analysis needs into telemetry requirements.
  • Provide guidance to software, firmware, and tooling teams to enable effective use of hardware telemetry for profiling and optimization.
  • Support silicon bring-up, performance validation, and debug; provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

Core technical skills and domain experience required to perform the role.

  • Experience in system architecture, performance engineering, performance analysis, profiling, or performance modeling for complex compute platforms.
  • Strong understanding of heterogeneous SoC architectures, including CPUs, accelerators, memory systems, interconnects, I/O, and multi-die systems.
  • Experience with hardware performance counters, events, traces, profiling infrastructure, or system-level observability, and translating analysis needs into telemetry requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with profiling tools such as NVIDIA Nsight, Intel VTune, Linux perf, Arm Streamline, Arm Performance Studio, or equivalents.
  • Knowledge of performance analysis methodologies: workload characterization, bottleneck identification, latency and bandwidth analysis, and power–performance optimization.
  • Understanding of how hardware telemetry is exposed and consumed across firmware, OS, virtualization layers, runtimes, and developer tools.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across functions with strong communication and technical leadership skills.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with silicon bring-up, performance validation, debug, or hardware–software performance correlation.
  • Experience with cloud-scale performance observability, capacity planning, workload placement, or infrastructure optimization.
  • Understanding of platform power management, thermal behavior, RAS, and their impact on performance.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
