Job Title

Principal Supplier Quality Engineer (Module Assembly)

Role Summary

Lead supplier quality activities for AI high-density power module products, working with regional subcontractors and component suppliers. Ensure supplier processes meet Renesas specifications and relevant industry standards, and drive corrective and preventive actions to maintain product quality and reliability.

Experience Level

Senior level - requires significant experience in supplier quality; posting specifies a minimum of 10 years relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities supporting supplier quality, process control, audits and continuous improvement.

• Act as liaison between regional suppliers and Renesas; support supplier qualification and site audits.
• Manage quality excursions: lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Support process and material change control, site certification activities, and audit readiness.
• Collaborate with component and subcontracted manufacturers to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Support PCB and SMT assembly process quality and related manufacturing techniques.
• Identify quality trends, manage improvement projects, and promote best practices across suppliers.
• Communicate findings and influence cross-functional teams and suppliers to resolve issues timely.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and competencies. "Preferred" items are listed separately.

• Minimum 10 years of supplier quality management experience, including supplier selection, continuous improvement, and excursion response.
• Strong technical knowledge of semiconductor module assembly processes (including SMT), passive components, and embedded substrate processes and controls.
• Proven hands-on experience in PCB assembly with emphasis on surface mount technology (SMT).
• Proficient with structured problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
• Understanding of quality tools and methods: FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, MSA, and process audit methodology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to motivate and organize teams.
• Experience influencing suppliers and driving timely resolution of quality issues.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Certified or qualified auditor credentials for ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and VDA 6.3 are specified in the posting.

Preferred Qualifications

Nice-to-have skills and experience.

• Experience or knowledge of advanced semiconductor packaging (e.g., multi-chip modules, wafer-level CSP).
• Practical use of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 core tools in supplier quality environments.
• Experience in a regional or global supplier quality organization.
