Job Title

Principal / Staff, Firmware and Product Test (SSD)

Role Summary

Lead firmware verification and product test activities for SSD products, focused on ensuring world-class performance and reliability for enterprise and automotive markets.

Collaborate with firmware developers and cross-functional teams to define test strategies, automate validation, diagnose failures, and mentor engineers.

Experience Level

Senior; 6–8 years of experience in SSD firmware test development.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute firmware test planning, development, and reporting for SSD products.

  • Develop comprehensive firmware verification plans and test strategies.
  • Create white-box, grey-box, known, and closed-system tests to validate firmware features.
  • Analyze regression failures and perform root-cause analysis using SSD domain expertise.
  • Manage test development, deployment, automation, and reporting activities.
  • Participate in code reviews and work with firmware engineers to improve code quality and coverage.
  • Communicate technical and non-technical challenges, solutions, and mitigation plans to cross-functional teams and management.
  • Lead and mentor technical team members as required.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, tools, and attributes.

  • Extensive hands-on experience in SSD firmware testing and test development.
  • Proficient in Python for test development and automation.
  • Deep knowledge of storage protocols such as PCIe, NVMe, and NVMe-MI and ability to design tests aligned with specifications.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development, Git-based workflows, and branch management.
  • Experience with automated build systems, continuous integration, and test automation frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and capability to mentor less-experienced engineers; able to work independently on complex tasks.

Education Requirements

B.Sc. (Bachelor's) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
