Principal Solutions Architect - High‑Tech Electronics & Semiconductor

Role Summary

Serve as the senior technical leader for a portfolio of large semiconductor customers, operating at the intersection of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and Generative AI. Partner with C-suite and engineering leadership to architect cloud transformations that deliver measurable customer outcomes.

Lead and scale reference architectures, influence AWS product direction for EDA and GenAI, and mentor Solutions Architects across the segment.

Experience Level

Senior - 10+ years of relevant technology experience (software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, or data & analytics).

Responsibilities

Primary technical and customer-facing responsibilities for semiconductor accounts.

• Own senior technical relationships for strategic semiconductor customers and translate business objectives (tape-outs, design cycle time, cost-per-wafer, time-to-market) into AWS architectures and adoption plans.
• Lead technical engagements from discovery through production with business outcomes as the primary lens.
• Architect and optimize large-scale EDA workloads (front-end and back-end flows) on AWS.
• Design high-throughput HPC and elastic compute patterns, high-performance shared storage, scheduler integrations (LSF, Slurm), and license optimization for EDA tools.
• Architect and deploy Generative AI solutions including Bedrock, model customization, RAG, and agentic patterns with responsible-AI guardrails.
• Create reusable assets (reference architectures, whitepapers, workshops) and influence AWS service roadmaps for EDA and GenAI capabilities.
• Mentor and develop Solutions Architects; contribute to hiring, enablement, and technical community-building.

Requirements

Must-have technical experience and skills; preferred items listed separately.

• 10+ years of experience in relevant technology domains (cloud computing, software development, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, or data & analytics).
• Proven experience developing end-to-end technology roadmaps and guiding IT/cloud transformations.
• Strong ability to communicate technical recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences, including C-level executives.
• Experience architecting, migrating, or modernizing large or complex workloads to cloud environments.
• Ability to lead high-stakes engagements and deliver measurable customer outcomes.
• Nice-to-have: deep hands-on experience with EDA/HPC workloads and EDA tooling (Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens EDA); Graviton benchmarking; scheduler and license optimization.
• Nice-to-have: demonstrated experience designing and deploying Generative AI in production (LLMs, RAG, agent systems, model customization).
• Nice-to-have: knowledge of distributed systems, large-scale automation/workflow management, and database design.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
