Principal Software Engineer
Role Summary
Technical leader responsible for defining and delivering firmware and software architecture for NVIDIA Edge AI platforms. Work across software, firmware, and hardware teams to create scalable, secure, debuggable platform designs from pre-silicon through production.
Experience Level
Level: Senior. Preferred experience: 15+ years in system architecture and design.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement platform workflows including firmware/software extensibility, debugging, and production security.
- Collaborate with software/firmware architects, hardware designers, and partners (ISV/IHV) to define platform requirements and reusable designs.
- Champion reliability, debuggability, and performance optimization in firmware, diagnostics, and deployment tools.
- Engage in platform design from pre-silicon stages through product production.
- Mentor architects and engineering teams; make technical decisions under ambiguity.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 15+ years of system architecture and design experience focused on scalable, high-performance edge systems at the software/hardware interface.
- Experience with complex system software for accelerators (GPUs, DPUs, FPGAs).
- Proven ability to define and execute strategies to de-risk program delivery (e.g., left-shift approaches).
- Strong track record of designing for reliability, debuggability, and production security.
- Technical leadership and decision-making experience; ability to mentor and grow engineering teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field β or equivalent practical experience.
