Principal Software Applications Engineer

Role Summary

Provide technical support and guidance to customers integrating Imagination processor cores and software, across automotive, mobile, desktop & data centre segments. Join the applications engineering team to deliver customer-facing engineering support from initial bring-up through production.

After an initial training period you will own relationships with key customers, diagnose issues, propose solutions, and help customers deploy Imagination graphics and software products.

Responsibilities

Primary day-to-day responsibilities supporting customers, products and internal teams:

• Guide customers through product bring-up, debugging, validation and production readiness.
• Investigate customer issues, perform root-cause analysis and propose practical fixes or workarounds.
• Support addition of new features and perform application and performance analysis.
• Own and explain technical details of key software products (e.g., graphics processors, drivers) to customers and colleagues.
• Create documentation, examples and provide training on development kits and coding techniques.
• Advise on quality, stability and performance issues across applications and operating systems.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and competencies; additional helpful experience follows.

• Must-have:
  • Proficient in programming in low-level languages such as C/C++.
  • Experience with software debugging and validation on Windows, Linux and Android.
  • Understanding of device drivers within modern operating systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
• Nice-to-have:
  • Experience with 3D graphics APIs (DirectX, OpenGL ES, OpenCL, Vulkan).
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety standards and automotive industry experience.
  • Understanding of software and hardware aspects of graphics architectures.
