Principal SoC Performance Architect – Next-Generation Server Platforms (Silent)
ArmJob Title
Principal SoC Performance Architect – Next-Generation Server Platforms (Silent)
Role Summary
Lead performance analysis and architecture work for next-generation server SoC platforms. The role combines workload characterization, silicon- and system-level investigation, and collaboration with hardware and software teams to influence architecture and platform decisions.
Work spans production silicon evaluation, microbenchmark development, and translating measurements into actionable architectural improvements.
Experience Level
Senior - 10+ years of experience in system or hardware architecture, performance analysis, or related roles.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities focus on driving measurable system performance improvements from architecture through silicon validation.
- Evaluate and analyze real-world workloads on production silicon, with emphasis on large-scale AI and HPC workloads.
- Define performance metrics, representative use cases, and benchmarking strategies with cross-functional teams.
- Design and implement targeted microbenchmarks to isolate architectural behaviors.
- Identify performance bottlenecks via detailed analysis and recommend actionable optimizations.
- Translate workload and silicon study insights into architectural and system-level improvements.
- Collaborate closely with hardware and software teams to influence system design decisions.
- Provide technical leadership and serve as a performance subject-matter expert across teams.
- Drive end-to-end understanding from architecture to workload to silicon validation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain experience required to perform the role.
- 10+ years of experience in system or hardware architecture, performance engineering, or equivalent roles.
- Expertise in CPU/accelerator architectures, cache and memory subsystems, and IO subsystems (PCIe, networking, storage).
- Strong background in either high-performance IO/networking (e.g., PCIe, CXL, InfiniBand, RoCE) or performance optimization for HPC/cloud-scale systems.
- Proven experience with benchmarking methodologies and developing custom microbenchmarks.
- Experience with performance analysis tools, profiling, and simulation or modeling environments.
- Proficiency in SystemC, TLM, C++, and Python.
- Ability to navigate and contribute to large, complex codebases and collaborate across teams.
- Nice-to-have: hands-on silicon bring-up or post-silicon performance analysis; familiarity with performance simulators or architectural modeling tools.
Education Requirements
Master's or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (as stated in the posting).
