Principal SoC Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Senior engineer responsible for verification of High-Performance Data Processing Unit chiplets and Automotive Microcontrollers. Contributes across the verification lifecycle: specification review, testbench architecture, testplan development, coverage definition and closure, and debugging of failing simulations.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 8β10 years of SoC verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop testbenches, testcases and checkers to validate design behavior against specifications.
- Debug differences between simulated behavior and design specifications; isolate and drive resolution.
- Define and close coverage goals; create and execute testplans.
- Improve DV flows and methodology to increase development efficiency.
- Independently manage verification tasks and provide technical mentorship to junior engineers.
- Collaborate with specification and design teams to track and resolve bugs.
- Perform work in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 8β10 years of SoC verification experience.
- Expertise writing tests using SystemVerilog, UVM and C.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Tcl/Tk, or Perl.
- Familiarity with SoC interconnects and bus standards (AXI, AHB, APB).
- Strong analytical, debugging, and written/verbal technical communication skills.
- Proven track record of technical leadership on IP or SoC verification projects.
- Experience developing coverage-driven verification and DV flows.
Preferred skills:
- Experience with RISC-V, ARM, and/or MIPS CPU architectures.
- Knowledge of register description languages (IP-XACT, SystemRDL, UVM RAL).
- Familiarity with functional safety (ISO 26262), fault injection methodologies, UPF, gate-level simulations, or formal verification techniques.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in these fields is preferred. (Source lists degree requirements explicitly.)
