Principal SoC Design Engineer
ArmJob Title
Principal SoC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and deliver micro-architecture and RTL for SoC I/O subsystems and compute platforms. Work on integration of interfaces such as PCIe, DDR/LPDDR/HBM and high-speed connectivity while collaborating with verification, performance analysis and backend implementation teams.
Experience Level
Senior - 12+ years of relevant SoC or complex compute subsystem design experience.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on specification, RTL development, integration, and cross-team collaboration to deliver SoC subsystems.
- Write micro-architecture and detailed design specifications for SoC subsystems.
- Develop, review and debug RTL implementations (Verilog-focused).
- Integrate IP (PCIe, DDR/LPDDR, HBM, UCIe, Ethernet) into SoC designs.
- Work with verification to review test plans and debug integration issues.
- Perform static design checks (CDC, RDC, X-propagation, lint) and support sign-off activities.
- Partner with performance analysis to evaluate and optimize system behavior.
- Support backend teams by providing floorplanning input, constraints and aiding timing closure.
- Mentor and guide team members; coordinate with project management on schedules and deliverables.
Requirements

- Must have: 12+ years of hands-on SoC or complex compute subsystem design experience.
- Must have: Strong digital hardware design skills and Verilog HDL development experience.
- Must have: Experience creating design specifications and developing RTL for SoC projects.
- Must have: Experience integrating subsystems: PCIe, DDR/LPDDR, HBM, UCIe, Ethernet.
- Must have: Experience with static design checks (CDC, RDC, X-propagation, lint) and debugging build issues.
- Must have: Scripting experience (Perl, Python or similar) for automation and tooling.
- Must have: Experience collaborating with verification, performance analysis and backend implementation teams.
- Nice to have: ARM-based design experience and familiarity with ARM system architectures.
- Nice to have: SystemVerilog and verification methodologies (UVM/OVM/e); experience leading small teams or projects.
- Nice to have: Knowledge of synthesis/timing analysis, power management techniques, DFT and physical implementation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
