Job Title
Principal SerDes Systems Engineer
Role Summary
Lead system-level development and validation of high-speed SerDes transceivers (PAM4) for PCIe and Ethernet standards. Work across analog, digital, and hardware teams to create models, verify performance through simulation and silicon correlation, and provide system-level technical support to customers.
Experience Level
Senior (Principal level). Requires 8+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Contribute technical leadership in modeling, simulation, and validation of high-speed serial-link transceivers across protocol and channel variations.
- Develop and maintain SerDes system models for PAM4 transceivers targeting PCIe (128Gbps+) and Ethernet (200Gbps+) standards.
- Run comprehensive system simulations to verify and sign off design performance across multiple protocols and channels.
- Design and propose advanced algorithms for calibration and adaptation of transceivers.
- Correlate simulated performance with silicon measurements and support post-silicon debugging.
- Support customers on system-level performance issues and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with analog, digital, and hardware engineers and contribute to lab testing and analysis.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience required. Education and years of experience are summarized separately below.
- Extensive experience modeling circuits and systems in MATLAB/Simulink.
- Strong understanding of DSP and communications theory, including equalization, encoding, and noise/crosstalk filtering.
- Proficiency in analyzing link budgets and performance for PAM4 high-speed serial links.
- Practical experience with wireline protocols (PCIe, Ethernet, JESD204C, CPRI) and optical protocols.
- Familiarity with circuit topologies used in high-speed SerDes Tx/Rx and Tx/Rx equalization techniques.
- Hands-on lab testing experience for high-speed serial links.
- Proficiency in C, Verilog-A, and SystemVerilog; Python is a plus.
Education Requirements
M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering. The role specifies 8+ years of relevant experience at the Principal level.
