Principal/Senior Engineer, DRAM Reliability
Role Summary
Member of the technology development reliability group supporting DRAM device/process development and circuit design teams. Responsible for evaluating wafer- and circuit-level reliability, building reliability models, and advising device and circuit teams to guide technology development.
Work requires semiconductor device physics knowledge, DRAM architecture and process integration understanding, and the ability to correlate reliability signatures with process and parametric data.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires at least 3 years of industry or research institute experience in semiconductor devices; specific experience expectations are listed below.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing tests, analyzing reliability data, and providing actionable recommendations to support device scaling and technology decisions.
- Develop and implement test methodologies to evaluate wafer-level and circuit-level reliability behavior and performance.
- Analyze results and produce reports with decision-ready, actionable recommendations for technology development.
- Collaborate with Process Integration and characterization teams to correlate reliability signatures with process changes and parametric test data.
- Integrate multiple data sources (inline metrology, parametric, probe) and perform failure analysis to model physical mechanisms and improve decision quality.
- Build reliability models and provide consultation to process integration and circuit design teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.
- Solid understanding of semiconductor device physics.
- Basic knowledge of DRAM, NAND, or emerging memory technologies.
- Experience with statistical data analysis applied to device/circuit characterization.
- Strong communication skills for cross-team technical collaboration.
- Basic knowledge of circuit operation and DRAM product architecture.
- At least 3 years of industry or research institute experience with semiconductor devices.
- Hands-on semiconductor device parametric measurement skills and experience operating lab instrumentation (parameter analyzers, pulse generators, capacitance meters, wafer probers, etc.).
- Familiarity with semiconductor device process technology and process integration impacts on reliability.
Nice-to-have:
- Programming skills for data analysis and modeling.
- Detailed knowledge of device structures and processes across technology generations.
- Deeper electrical analysis expertise and advanced circuit-level reliability analysis.
Education Requirements
M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field, with at least 2 years of relevant experience. (Source references M.S. or Ph.D. and specifies the related fields and experience.)
