Principal Product Engineer - In-Design Physical Verification (DRC/FILL)

Role Summary

Member of the Product Engineering team responsible for enabling and supporting in-design physical verification solutions across foundries, customers, and R&D. Focus is on integration, deployment, and troubleshooting of DRC, Fill, and LVS flows for advanced-node digital designs.

Experience Level

Senior. Hiring guidance: 8+ years with a Master’s degree or 10+ years with a Bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership for in-design physical verification across customer projects, foundry enablement, and internal product teams.

  • Work with foundries and customers to enable and support in-design PV solutions across the implementation flow.
  • Act as technical expert in DRC, Fill, and LVS methodologies for advanced-node technologies.
  • Deploy, debug, and optimize in-design PV flows using Innovus and Pegasus/PVS solutions.
  • Collaborate with foundries to validate and improve PV rule decks and their integration into customer flows.
  • Provide on-site and remote support for complex PV issues and customer debugging.
  • Coordinate with R&D, field teams, and customers to identify product enhancements and resolve technical challenges.
  • Develop automation and methodology improvements to increase verification coverage and reduce turnaround time.

Requirements

Technical skills and customer-facing experience required for effective delivery and support of in-design PV solutions.

Must-have

  • Hands-on experience with digital implementation tools, preferably Cadence Innovus.
  • In-depth understanding of Physical Verification methodologies: DRC, Fill, LVS.
  • Experience supporting physical implementation and signoff flows for advanced nodes (16nm/14nm FinFET and below).
  • Practical experience debugging and resolving PV issues in customer design environments.
  • Working knowledge of commercial PV tools such as Pegasus / PVS, Calibre, ICV, or equivalents.
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.

Nice-to-have

  • Foundry enablement experience and PV rule-deck development or validation.
  • Experience in design services or customer support organizations.
  • Scripting and automation skills (Tcl, Python, Perl, or similar).
  • Familiarity with DRC closure strategies, fill strategies, and signoff verification methodologies for advanced nodes.

Education Requirements

Master's degree (preferred) with 8+ years of professional experience, or Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of professional experience. No specific field of study mandated in the posting.
