Principal Product Engineer

Role Summary

Lead product-engineering activities for assigned semiconductor products, owning characterization, qualification, production release and sustained-volume support. Work across design, test, operations, foundries and OSATs to ensure timely product qualification and production readiness.

Experience Level

Senior - at least 15 years of relevant semiconductor product engineering, NPI, manufacturing, test and qualification experience.

Responsibilities

Accountable for product lifecycle and cross-functional coordination from first silicon to end-of-life:

• Own product lifecycle: concept, first silicon, qualification, production release, sustaining and end-of-life actions.
• Drive first-silicon bring-up and debug with Design, Test and Applications teams.
• Plan and execute voltage, temperature and process characterization; set production limits and guard-bands.
• Create and maintain BOMs and lifecycle data in PLM systems.
• Coordinate with planning, manufacturing, subcontractors and operations to resolve material-flow and schedule issues.
• Plan and execute qualifications per JEDEC and AEC standards; prepare product-release and compliance documentation.
• Monitor production data; use statistical analysis to identify and correct yield, quality and test deficiencies and drive yield improvement.
• Optimize PAT, SYL, SBL, SPC and disposition limits to protect outgoing quality.
• Support fab transfers, BOM changes, customer returns and RMA investigations by reproducing failures and assessing test coverage.
• Provide technical leadership, sign-off reviews and cross-functional risk resolution.

Requirements

Key technical and professional qualifications. Items under "Must-have" are required; "Nice-to-have" are preferred.

• Must-have: Minimum 15 years of semiconductor product engineering, NPI, manufacturing, test or qualification experience.
• Practical understanding of wafer fabrication, assembly, test, qualification and production-release flows.
• Experience managing engineering wafer starts, prototype builds, customer samples, inventory and product BOMs.
• Working knowledge of SoC and mixed-signal device testing, common circuit building blocks, device behavior and test methodology.
• Familiarity with ATE platforms such as Teradyne J750 or Advantest V93000 and laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, digital multimeters).
• Familiarity with JEDEC/AEC qualification standards, qualification hardware/software and semiconductor failure analysis methods.
• Experience with PLM and yield-management tools (examples: Agile, Exensio, JMP) and with data/statistical methods for yield, quality and cycle-time management.
• Experience working with external foundries, OSATs, subcontractors and globally distributed product teams; strong coordination and communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Prior experience in automotive compliance reporting and formal qualification documentation.
• Deep experience with specific yield-management or FA tools beyond the examples above.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering or Industrial Engineering (required per posting).
