Job Title

Principal Performance and Manufacturing Architect

Role Summary

Join NVIDIA’s Silicon Co-Design Group to define and validate the link between design intent and manufacturing reality for high-volume silicon. You will create first-principles models, set manufacturing and test specifications, and own validation plans that prove margins and specifications before production.

Experience Level

Senior — requires extensive industry experience; the posting requests 15+ years in the field.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities focus on modeling, specification, and validation across design and manufacturing.

  • Develop first-principles models connecting AVF, defect mechanisms, DVFS transients to yield, field FIT, and DPPM across process nodes and populations.
  • Specify ATE and SLT voltage, frequency, and timing conditions to capture worst-case transient VF windows and detect marginal defects through manufacturing stages.
  • Author program methodology documents so all teams make decisions from the same validated model.
  • Design and own per-release validation plans: split-screen experiments, sample sizes, statistical acceptance criteria, and production monitoring through QS sign-off.
  • Translate ambiguous physical phenomena into quantified, defensible margin terms and drive organization-wide alignment on those terms.

Requirements

Must-have technical experience and demonstrated impact. Education degrees are listed separately below.

  • 15+ years of relevant industry experience building and validating silicon/manufacturing models.
  • Deep, hands-on understanding of transient VF behavior, marginal defect mechanisms, and timing violations.
  • Proven track record defining manufacturing test specifications on shipped products, with explicit ownership of margin terms.
  • Experience designing and executing silicon validation experiments from NPI through production and owning the results.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional alignment among build, product definition, reliability, and test engineering.
  • Strong quantitative judgment and experience specifying statistical acceptance criteria and production monitoring plans.

Education Requirements

BSEE, MSEE, or PhD (or equivalent practical experience) — the posting specifies these degrees or equivalent experience; field implied is electrical/semiconductor engineering.
