Job Title
Principal Network Simulation Engineer - VLSI
Role Summary
Design and implement high-fidelity network simulations for NICs, switches, and future system architectures to evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance. Provide simulation-driven data and tools to guide architecture and implementation decisions while working with cross-functional engineering teams.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience in network/system-level simulation, architecture analysis, or related VLSI engineering.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include building simulation models, executing realistic scenarios, and delivering analysis to inform product architecture.
- Develop simulation models for NICs, switches, and system architectures.
- Design and implement simulation motifs and realistic network scenarios.
- Create and maintain tools for performance analysis and visualization.
- Evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance of proposed architectures.
- Apply software engineering best practices to ensure reliable, maintainable simulations.
- Collaborate with network architects, ASIC designers, and software engineers to validate design trade-offs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Education details are listed under Education Requirements.
- 10+ years of industry experience in network/system simulation, architecture analysis, or related VLSI work.
- Strong understanding of network architecture and system-level design.
- Proficiency in simulation/modeling with C++ and data analysis using Python.
- Experience analyzing architectural trade-offs and performance optimization strategies.
- Experience building performance analysis and visualization tools.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical findings.
- Familiarity with software engineering practices for simulation code (testing, version control, CI).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with ASIC/SoC-level simulation or VLSI design flows.
- Experience with large-scale system or network fault-tolerance simulation frameworks.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field β or equivalent practical experience.
