Principal Network Simulation Engineer - VLSI
Role Summary
Design and implement high-fidelity simulation models and motifs for network interface controllers (NICs), switches, and future system architectures to evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance. Create tooling for performance analysis and visualization and collaborate with network architects, ASIC designers, and software engineering teams to guide architecture and design decisions.
This position is designated Remote/Teleworker and is expected to primarily work from home.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 10+ years of relevant experience as stated in the posting.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include building simulation infrastructure, running realistic network scenarios, and producing actionable analysis.
- Develop simulation models for NICs, switches, and system-level architectures.
- Design and implement simulation motifs to drive realistic network scenarios and workloads.
- Create tools and visualizations for performance analysis and reporting.
- Evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance of proposed architectures.
- Apply software engineering best practices to ensure reliable, maintainable simulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network architects, ASIC designers, and software engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience (degrees summarized separately below).
- 10+ years of experience in network simulation, system-level modeling, or related architecture roles.
- Proficiency in C++ for simulation model development.
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation, and tooling.
- Strong understanding of network architecture and system-level design.
- Experience analyzing architectural trade-offs and optimization strategies.
- Experience evaluating performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams and applying software engineering best practices.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to present technical results to architects and engineers.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
