Job Title
Principal Network Simulation Engineer - VLSI
Role Summary
Lead development of system-level and device simulation models for NICs, switches and future system architectures to evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance. Deliver simulation motifs, tooling and analysis that inform architectural and ASIC design decisions while working cross-functionally with network architects, ASIC designers and software engineers.
Experience Level
Senior level β 10+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain simulation models for NICs, switches, and system architectures.
- Design and implement simulation motifs and scenarios to model realistic network behavior.
- Create tools for performance analysis, visualization, and validation of results.
- Evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance; analyze architectural trade-offs and optimization strategies.
- Apply software engineering best practices to ensure reliable, maintainable and efficient simulation code.
- Collaborate with network architects, ASIC/SoC designers, and software teams to guide design and verify proposals.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 10+ years of experience in network/system simulation, architecture analysis, or related roles.
- Strong understanding of network architecture and system-level design.
- Proficiency in C++ for simulation modeling and Python for analysis and tooling.
- Experience evaluating architectural trade-offs and optimizing performance and scalability.
- Familiarity with software engineering best practices: version control, testing, CI, and performance profiling.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical findings clearly.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with NIC or switch architectures, VLSI/ASIC design flows, or hardware/software co-simulation.
- Experience with performance visualization tools and large-scale network emulation frameworks.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field β or equivalent practical experience.
