Principal Network Simulation Engineer - VLSI
Role Summary
Senior engineering role to develop and maintain simulation models and analysis tooling for NICs, switches, and future system architectures. The position focuses on evaluating performance, scalability, and fault tolerance to inform hardware and software architecture decisions.
Work remotely and collaborate with network architects, ASIC designers, and software teams to deliver validated, production-quality simulation results and visualizations.

Responsibilities
Design, implement, run, and analyze system-level network simulations and provide clear, actionable results to engineering teams.
- Develop and maintain simulation models for NICs, switches, and system architectures.
- Design and implement simulation motifs to drive realistic network scenarios.
- Create tools for performance analysis and visualization of simulation data.
- Evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance of proposed architectures.
- Analyze architectural trade-offs and recommend optimization strategies.
- Apply software engineering best practices to ensure reliable, efficient simulation outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with network architects, ASIC designers, and software engineers.
Requirements

- 10+ years' experience in network or system simulation and architecture analysis.
- Strong understanding of network architecture and system-level design.
- Proficiency in simulation/modeling using C++ and analysis scripting in Python.
- Experience building analysis and visualization tools for performance data.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze architectural trade-offs and optimization strategies.
- Effective communication and proven ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Nice to have: experience with ASIC/VLSI design flows, distributed simulation frameworks, or fault-tolerance analysis.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
