Job Title
Principal Network Simulation Engineer - VLSI
Role Summary
Principal engineer responsible for developing and validating simulation models for network interface controllers (NICs), switches, and future system architectures. The role builds simulation motifs and tools to drive realistic network scenarios, performance analysis, and visualization.
Works closely with network architects, ASIC designers, and software teams to evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance and to guide architectural trade-offs. This position is designated Remote/Teleworker.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include building and operating simulations and analysis pipelines to validate network and system architectures.
- Develop simulation models for NICs, switches, and system architectures.
- Design and implement simulation motifs that reproduce realistic network scenarios.
- Create tools for performance analysis, data collection, and visualization.
- Evaluate performance, scalability, and fault tolerance of proposed architectures.
- Analyze architectural trade-offs and propose optimizations.
- Apply software engineering best practices to ensure reliable, maintainable simulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network architects, ASIC designers, and software engineers.
- Document results and communicate findings to technical stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional experience.
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience working on network/system simulation or architectural evaluation.
- Proficiency in simulation/modeling using C++.
- Proficiency in data analysis and scripting with Python.
- Strong understanding of network architecture and system-level design.
- Experience analyzing architectural trade-offs and optimization strategies.
- Solid software engineering practices: version control, testing, and reproducible CI workflows.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical results clearly.
- Nice-to-have: experience with NICs/switch design, ASIC/SoC development workflows, and visualization frameworks.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field β or equivalent practical experience.
