Job Title

Principal Mixed-Signal Design Engineer

Role Summary

Lead development of high-speed mixed-signal data converters in the Advanced Cores Group, focusing on architecture selection, transistor-level circuit design, and integration into SoC products. Work is performed in a hybrid model based in Durham, NC.

The role supports applications across communications, automotive, aerospace/defense, and instrumentation.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires 14+ years of CMOS design experience.

Responsibilities

The principal engineer will:

  • Lead circuit development and evaluate/select converter architectures.
  • Design transistor-level circuits for ADCs, DACs, and associated analog blocks.
  • Prepare design documentation and lead technical design reviews.
  • Coordinate and guide layout, evaluation, and test engineering teams through tapeout and characterization.
  • Mentor and develop other design engineers and provide technical leadership on projects.

Requirements

Key qualifications and skills required:

  • 14+ years of practical CMOS design experience.
  • Proven experience in high-speed data converter design (pipeline ADC, SAR ADC, current-steering DAC).
  • Deep knowledge of analog circuits: wide-bandwidth amplifiers, comparators, switched-capacitor circuits, precision voltage/current references, and LDOs.
  • Proficiency with Cadence schematic capture and SPICE simulation tools.
  • Experience using MATLAB for behavioral modeling.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in large teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to take technical ownership and solve complex circuit challenges.

Nice-to-have:

  • Signal processing knowledge, especially calibration algorithms.
  • Experience with FinFET process technologies and SoC integration.
