Principal Mixed-Signal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead development of high-speed mixed-signal data converter circuits in ADI's Advanced Cores Group. The role focuses on architecture selection, transistor-level circuit design, coordinating with layout/evaluation/test teams, and mentoring other engineers.
Experience Level
Senior β principal-level role. The position expects 14+ years of CMOS design experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead circuit development efforts and evaluate/select converter architectures.
- Design transistor-level circuits for converters and related analog blocks.
- Prepare design documentation and lead technical design reviews.
- Coordinate and guide layout, evaluation, and test engineering through implementation and bring-up.
- Mentor and develop other design engineers and contribute to team technical direction.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Extensive hands-on experience in high-speed data converter design (pipeline ADC, SAR ADC, current-steering DAC).
- Deep knowledge of circuits such as wide-bandwidth amplifiers, comparators, switched-cap circuits, precision voltage/current references, and LDOs.
- Proficiency with Cadence schematic capture and SPICE simulation tools.
- Experience using MATLAB for behavioral modeling.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in large teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Signal processing knowledge related to calibration algorithms.
- Experience with FinFET processes and SerDes PHYs.
Education Requirements
M.S. or beyond in Electrical Engineering.
