Job Title

Principal Mixed Signal Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) Industrial team in Wilmington, MA to lead mixed-signal IC development for high-performance production test systems. The role focuses on high-speed, fine-line analog CMOS and chiplet-level system designs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate designs into ATE products.

Experience Level

Senior level. The posting specifies 7+ years of relevant system design, architecture, and integration experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include end-to-end mixed-signal design and technical leadership for wireline and high-speed analog systems used in ATE products.

  • Lead architecture and detailed design of complex mixed-signal systems to meet performance and reliability targets.
  • Design wireline transmitters and receivers.
  • Develop mixed-mode decision feedback equalizers (DFE) and analog/digital equalization techniques.
  • Design and implement clock & data recovery (CDR) circuits; collaborate on VCO/PLL designs.
  • Design custom high-speed digital circuits and digitally-assisted high-speed analog blocks.
  • Integrate IC designs into larger system and chiplet-level architectures with cross-functional teams.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and present design concepts and results to stakeholders.
  • Support activities that may require up to 10% travel.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred skills noted separately.

  • 7+ years of experience in system design, architecture engineering, and design integration.
  • Proven experience in RF or high-speed CMOS and/or data converter design.
  • Expertise in FinFET processes (e.g., 16 nm, 5 nm) or fine-line planar analog CMOS (e.g., 28 nm).
  • Experience with software-defined CMOS communications or radar system design.
  • Proficiency in digitally-assisted high-speed analog design and wireline equalization (analog & digital).
  • Strong presentation, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred: strong analytical/problem-solving, teamwork, project management skills, and ability to adapt to changing technologies.

Education Requirements

B.S. in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; M.S. in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) preferred.
