Principal Member of the Technical Staff - IP Engineering
Role Summary
Lead development of high-performance compute processor IP products for GlobalFoundries' IP Engineering team in Hsinchu. Provide technical leadership across product development, customer engagements, and global cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality IP.
Accountable for technical strategy, architecture reviews, mentoring, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 15+ years of experience in digital front-end design, RTL implementation, verification, validation, or computational IP development.
Responsibilities
Accountable for end-to-end delivery, technical strategy, and team leadership on large-scale IP projects.
- Drive and co-own large-scale IP development projects from architecture through product delivery.
- Define technical strategy; review architectures and specifications to ensure delivery excellence.
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams; support succession planning and talent development.
- Improve engineering processes, methodologies, and quality practices across teams.
- Provide hands-on guidance in architecture, microarchitecture, RTL design, verification, signoff, and product release.
- Coordinate with global teams on technology roadmaps, project planning, and customer engagements.
- Manage program execution including resource planning, risk management, scheduling, and stakeholder communication.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 15+ years of experience in digital front-end design, RTL implementation, verification, validation, or computational IP development with significant technical leadership responsibility.
- Proven track record leading large-scale IP/SoC projects with accountability for quality, delivery, and customer satisfaction.
- Expertise in microprocessor, memory, and system architecture.
- Hands-on experience in RTL design, micro-architecture, verification, formal methods, functional coverage, and technical specification development.
- Proficiency with SystemVerilog, Verilog, UVM, C/C++, Python, Perl, and scripting languages.
- Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools: simulators, synthesis, lint, formal verification, coverage, and automation tools.
- Strong program execution, resource planning, risk management, and delivery management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop high-performing engineering teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience leading distributed, multi-site engineering teams.
- Experience driving engineering methodologies and organizational quality improvements.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
