Principal Member of Technical Staff - RF Design Engineering

Role Summary

Responsible for design and enablement of RF front-end building blocks (switches, antenna tuners, LNAs) and associated digital/analog/control circuitry using GlobalFoundries RFSOI technologies. Work spans schematic design, layout, simulation, pre-silicon verification, characterization, and customer engagement to demonstrate technology capabilities.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical experience expectations: M.S. +8 years or B.S. +11 years; Ph.D. with ~7+ years is listed as preferred.

Responsibilities

Design, verify, and document RF ICs and support customer enablement. Key responsibilities include:

• Design RF switches, antenna tuners, LNAs and associated analog/digital/control circuits for 5G FR1/FR3 and Wi‑Fi using RFSOI technology.
• Perform schematic design, layout, parasitic extraction, electromagnetic simulation, and pre-silicon verification using industry-standard tools.
• Design for manufacturability, yield, reliability, ruggedness, and industry-standard ESD performance.
• Define and execute characterization and validation test plans; correlate simulation and measured silicon data.
• Produce clear design documentation covering architecture, simulations, and trade-offs.
• Engage with large global customers and technology partners to understand requirements and translate them into reference designs.
• Present technical content (presentations, webinars, white papers) to promote technology and support marketing.
• Perform duties in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience (concise):

• Proven experience with RFSOI technologies, including production tapeouts of relevant circuits.
• Deep experience with standard CAD and simulation tools (Cadence, EMX, ADS, etc.) and tapeout procedures (corner analysis, DRC, LVS).
• Strong knowledge of communications system and RF front-end architecture for cellular and Wi‑Fi products.
• Ability to define and execute characterization/validation plans and correlate silicon to simulation.
• Experience engaging and presenting to senior-level customers and partners globally.
• Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills in English.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Education Requirements

Required: M.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 8 years' relevant experience, or B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 11 years' relevant experience. Preferred: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field with approximately 7+ years' relevant experience.
