Principal Member of Technical Staff — DFT (Leadership Role)
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Principal Member of Technical Staff — DFT (Leadership Role)
Role Summary
As a technical leader in the IODC SoC DFT organization, you will own end-to-end ATPG strategy, implementation, and pattern validation for large multi-million-gate SoCs. You will coordinate with RTL, physical design, verification, test engineering, ATE and silicon validation teams to deliver production-quality test solutions and support silicon bring-up and manufacturing ramp.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting prefers 16+ years of experience in SoC DFT/ATPG and production test delivery.
Responsibilities
Lead ATPG and DFT delivery across design, validation, and manufacturing stages. Key responsibilities include:
- Own ATPG execution from architecture through production test and silicon ramp.
- Define ATPG methodologies, coverage goals, and pattern signoff criteria.
- Generate and validate scan, transition-fault, cell-aware, compression, chain diagnosis, and bridge patterns.
- Drive pattern validation across simulation, emulation, ATE, and platform environments and ensure tester readiness and correlation.
- Collaborate with RTL, DFT RTL, DFT verification, physical design, timing, PEO and ATE teams for implementation and deployment.
- Lead root-cause analysis for ATPG/test/silicon/yield issues and drive remediation.
- Develop automation and AI-enabled flows to improve ATPG productivity and debug turnaround.
- Mentor engineers and scale DFT best practices across programs.
Requirements
Technical skills and experience expected for the role. The position requires proven delivery of production-quality test solutions for large SoCs.
- Extensive experience in SoC DFT and ATPG execution, with production-quality test delivery for high-volume SoCs.
- Deep understanding of scan architecture, compression/EDT, LBIST/MBIST, boundary scan, diagnosis, and physical-aware ATPG.
- Strong experience in pattern validation, tester correlation, post-silicon debug, and yield improvement.
- Hands-on experience working with Product Engineering, Test Engineering, and ATE teams for tester bring-up and manufacturing deployment.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Perl, Tcl, Shell, or similar).
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives across geographically distributed teams and mentor junior engineers.
- Nice-to-have: experience with ATPG tools (Tessent, Modus, TestMAX, TetraMAX or equivalent), STIL/WGL and tester pattern formats, power-aware ATPG optimization, and silicon failure analysis.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related discipline preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
