Principal Manufacturing Engineer (Subcon, Backend / Assembly)
Role Summary
Primary technical contact between Nexperia and outsourced semiconductor assembly subcontractors (OSATs). Responsible for ensuring stable, high-quality, and cost-effective IC assembly operations by driving technical alignment, resolving production issues, and monitoring subcontractor performance.

Experience Level
Senior level — requires 10+ years of experience in semiconductor assembly, wafer-level, or backend manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include technical oversight of subcontractor assembly sites, issue resolution, and supporting NPI and cost-improvement efforts.
- Serve as technical interface to external subcontractor assembly/backend sites.
- Review and approve subcontractor process or material changes as first-level technical gatekeeper.
- Support process risk assessments and ensure changes meet quality and reliability requirements.
- Investigate and drive resolution of production issues, yield problems, and quality deviations.
- Monitor and manage subcontractor operational and quality KPIs.
- Support NPI and industrialization of new packages and processes at subcontractors.
- Lead or support cost-reduction and value-engineering initiatives.
- Participate in audits (customer, quality, VDA) and compliance verification.
- Support project milestones, technical reviews, and subcontractor performance reporting.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and skills.
Must-have:
- 10+ years of experience in semiconductor assembly, wafer-level, or backend manufacturing.
- Proven experience in high-volume, high-mix production environments.
- Good understanding of semiconductor packaging processes and manufacturing flows.
- Project management experience in engineering or manufacturing settings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and stakeholder-management skills; effective working with external partners.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience working directly with OSAT/subcontractor partners and third-party audits.
- Experience with yield improvement and reliability testing methodologies.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field (as stated in the posting).
