Principal/Manager, SoC Systems Validation Engineering
QualcommJob Title
Principal/Manager, SoC Systems Validation Engineering
Role Summary
Lead SoC systems validation engineering for ASIC/SoC blocks and packages. Responsible for architecture, design validation, verification, integration, and documentation across complex high-performance, low-power SoC projects.
Work with cross-functional teams (software/hardware architecture, product and program management) to define execution strategy and ensure product requirements are met.
Experience Level
Senior. Role expects an experienced engineering leader; typical background: 8+ years of ASIC design/verification/validation/integration experience (reduced experience acceptable with advanced degree as detailed below).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership of SoC IP/block design and validation and influencing cross-functional product decisions.
- Define, model, design, optimize, verify, validate, implement, and document IP and SoC designs (digital and/or analog).
- Create architectures, circuit specifications, logic designs, and system simulations to meet system-level requirements.
- Drive implementation across flows (RTL-to-GDS, synthesis, place & route, timing and power) and/or custom circuit design/layout flows.
- Provide technical mentorship and review work from experienced engineers; supervise direct reports.
- Collaborate with software/hardware architecture, product and program management to develop and execute implementation strategy.
- Produce and review detailed technical documentation for complex EDA/IP/ASIC projects.
- Make high-impact technical decisions and communicate findings to senior stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Extensive ASIC design, verification, validation, and integration experience on complex SoC projects.
- Deep knowledge of design verification methods and full-chip implementation flow.
- Practical experience with EDA flows (e.g., RTL-to-GDS) and implementation toolchains.
- Proficiency with scripting and programming languages to automate and debug flows.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and communicate complex technical matters.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with architecture and advanced design tools.
- Experience with Virtuoso or custom analog/layout flows.
- Track record interacting with senior leadership and driving organizational decisions.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 8+ years of ASIC design/verification/validation/integration experience; OR Master's degree in Science/Engineering or related field plus 7+ years; OR PhD in Science/Engineering or related field plus 6+ years. Preferred fields include Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
