Role Summary
The Principal High Speed Clocking Design Engineer will join the memory design team to support the definition, specification, system simulation, and implementation of future DDR and LPDDR related product IPs. The primary focus is on the circuit architecture and design of critical high-speed analog and digital blocks, alongside defining specifications for the high-speed data path.
Experience Level
Senior level with 5+ years of experience if holding a PhD in Electrical Engineering, or 7+ years of experience with a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Responsibilities
The candidate will have the following key responsibilities:
- Lead the design of critical clocking blocks such as PLL, VCO, and PI.
- Own high-speed analog/mixed signal designs at both chip and block level.
- Design, simulate, and characterize high-performance circuits.
- Create high-level models for design trade-off analysis and behavior verification.
- Collaborate with digital/system teams to define architecture and design plans.
- Create layouts and collaborate with the layout team for post-extraction performance.
- Document analyses and simulations to ensure design meets critical electrical and timing parameters.
- Work with the lab and system team for test plans, silicon bring-up, and characterization.
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to improving development flows.
Requirements
Applicants should possess the following qualifications:
- MS in Electrical Engineering and 7+ years of experience, or PhD in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years experience in analog/mixed-signal circuit design.
- Experience with ultra-low noise PLL designs supporting high-frequency jitter.
- Expertise in high-linearity, low-power PI architectures and memory clock tree designs.
- Familiarity with DDR5 specifications and DLL architectures.
- Solid foundational knowledge of design principles and basic building blocks, including bias, op-amps, and LDO.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or PhD in Electrical Engineering is required.
